Trying to ferret out when science was born takes some incredible research. It is still debatable when it actually originated. Many precursors were given credit for the contributions to science. Sir Francis Bacon was credited with "defining" the scientific method. Who invented the scientific method is quite difficult to reach historically, especially given the various contributions from both Western and Eastern Society.
